Undergraduate Projects

My experience as an English major was very versatile regarding its curriculum. Fortunately, I found myself writing and researching about international relations, history, social justice, philosophy, and ancient cultures; this was something I very much enjoyed, and  stimulated my  creativity. Additionally, applying what I learned from topics I familiarized myself with expanded my understanding of many texts and brought a new perspective to my academic journey.

Theme of Racism in The Lonely Londoners

This essay explores the lives of Caribbean immigrants in 1950's British society. Moreover, it analyzes how racism serves as a barrier for the characters to navigate their new lives in a foreign setting. Taking place in a post-World War II context, the novel displays racism as internalized and systematic and highlights the division between predominantly black Caribbean immigrants and white Londoners.

Philosophical Attributes In Hamlet

This essay focuses on Michel de Montaigne's "Of the Inconstancy of Our Actions" and its relation to existential philosophy, particularly as it relates to William Shakespeare's Hamlet. I focus on the guided impulses driven by Hamlet's passion regarding the circumstances surrounding his father's death. The philosophical attributes are supported by De Montaigne's foundational text, which emphasizes that human behavior is fluid, unpredictable, and shaped by external factors that evoke emotions such as ambition and greed.

Essay on Drug Trafficking and Drug Cartels

This research paper examines the illegal drug trade and its influence on the U.S.-Mexico border and Mexican governance. Drug trafficking is a transnational criminal issue characterized by fatalities. This research essay analyzes the drug trafficking tactics and the severity of crimes committed by the Mexican cartels, analyzing the relations between the U.S. and Mexico in combating this issue.

Translations On Old English Literature Texts

This final project is based on translating old English (Anglo-Saxon) texts including that of:

  • Seafarer
  • Deor
  • Against a Blemish
  • Wulf and Eadwacer

The literary context of Old English is defined by oral tradition and reliance on alliterative meter. Utilizing stressed syllables bridged by alliteration. Moreover, Old English literature texts emphasize the transition from Germanic paganism to Christianity. The key themes and genres are heroic topics such as Beowulf, religious texts with biblical accreditation, and warfare.
